Rafał Habel-Bloodgood

Rafal Habel-Bloodgood is an actor, musician, and theatre practitioner with over 30 years of experience in research, practice, and performance. His work is rooted in a unique genre of ensemble-devised, music-based physical theatre, blending movement, voice, music, text, and rhythm to create dynamic and immersive performances. A founding member of the internationally acclaimed Song of the Goat Theatre (1996–2018), Rafal Habel-Bloodgood contributed to celebrated productions such as Chronicles-A LamentationSongs of Lear, and Return to the Voice. These works have received widespread acclaim, including Edinburgh Festival Fringe First awards in 2006 and 2012, and were performed globally at prestigious festivals and venues.

Currently, Rafal Habel-Bloodgood works as a freelancer, collaborating with creative groups such as the TRANSATLANTIC GROUP in Athens, Ov\Off Studio led by composer Nefeli Stamatogiannopoulou, and Honey and Dust in Bratislava. His creative focus centers on the deep connections between body, voice, and music, which he continues to explore through performance and development projects.

Rafal Habel-Bloodgood’s Teaching Path

As an educator, Rafal Habel-Bloodgood shares his extensive knowledge of ensemble work and theatrical development with students and professionals. From 2004 to 2012, he was part of the MA in Acting course at Manchester Metropolitan University, created in partnership with Song of the Goat Theatre. He has taught at institutions including Rose Bruford College, the Bral School of Acting, and Music Village in Pelion, Greece, where he has been a regular instructor since 2016. In the USA, he has delivered masterclasses at UCLA and UC Irvine, focusing on the integration of movement, breath, and voice in creative practice.

With a lifelong dedication to ensemble performance, Rafal Habel-Bloodgood has shaped a distinctive approach to theatre. Through performance and teaching, he inspires others to connect with their creative potential, fostering a deeper understanding of the transformative power of the arts.

Eirini Sgouridou

Eirini Sgouridou is a musician and performer. She chose the flute after initially studying classical guitar, piano, and advanced music theory. Alongside her classical studies, she began exploring jazz music. She participates in theatrical performances as both an actress and musician with various theater groups. She sings in different languages, utilizing the diversity of vocal expression across various musical styles, and focuses on improvisation, primarily with her voice and flute. She is a permanent member of the artistic groups Ov Off (Studio), Adespotes Skyles  and Masterz of the Stringzs.

 

 

Charis Pazaroulas

Charis Pazaroulas

Charis Pazaroulas (doublebass- GR-) shows an intense interest in the study, interpretation, and performance of contemporary and experimental music. He is the Second Principal Double Bassist of the Athens State Orchestra, a member of the contemporary music ensemble TETTTIΞ, as well as the artistic research group Ov Off. At the same time, he is a PhD candidate at the Department of Music Science and Art at the University of Macedonia, focusing on works by Greek composers for solo double bass and electronic media. His debut album, TRANSCENDENCE I, was released in May 2024 by Zappak.

Aggelos Mastrantonis

Aggelos Mastrantonis

Aggelos Mastrantonis (GR) -composer, violinist- studied composition at Ionian University. In 2017 he obtained a Master’s Degree in composition with distinction from the Reid School of Music of University of Edinburgh. He owns a PhD in composition at the University of Edinburgh supervised by Peter Nelson and Dr. Gareth Williams.

He has collaborated with the Greek Ensemble of Contemporary Music, Red Note Ensemble, Edinburgh Quartet, Ov Off -Nefeli Stam., Edinburgh University String Orchestra and the Reid School of Music Ensemble of Contemporary Music.  Aggelos has been awarded the first prize at the Emre Araci Composition Competition 2016 for his work ‘Stygian Reflections’ for string orchestra, and the first prize at the competition of Workshop for Young Greek Composers 2014 organized by GCU for his work ‘Carthago Delenda Est’ for Ensemble. Aggelos organized and co-curated events during Dialogues Festival 2019, as part of the annual Innovative Learning Week of University of Edinburgh, co-funded by the Edinburgh College of Arts. He has worked as a music copyist for the Greek National Radio & Television Broadcast (ERT) and as a composition tutor at the University of Edinburgh and University of Macedonia.

Nefeli Stamatogiannopoulou

Nefeli Stamatogiannopoulou

Nefeli Stamatogiannopoulou is a composer, performance artist and improviser based in Athens.

As a composer she has written more than 50 works  including compositions for many performances/theater and  films, as she has also worked as a director in several projects. 

 She plays double bass, electric bass, electronics, piano and she is also exploring the limits of the voice.

In her last music and stage compositions, the artist, focuses on a personal system of notation and creation, which explore the relationship between music composition, movement and the dramaturgy of sound.

She has been awarded for her work as a composer/musician as well as a sound editor.

She has performed on many concert, festival and theatrical halls.

She studied at the department of Composition, with specialisation on the Performing Arts. She also studied at the graduate department “Composition for Cinema, Theater and Performing Arts”, of the Ionian University,  participated for many years in masterclasses/seminars focused on physical theater, voice and composition under the supervision of the Grotowski Institute (PLN), the Song of the Goat Theater (PLN) , L.I.S.P.A. (DE), the Kristin Linklater Voice Centre(UK).

She is also the composer and founder of, among others, the research artistic group Ov Off (Quintet ’84, The Glass Between, αϊζο-the bird-e.t.c),the music group Spooky Redrum, as well as the founder of Ov Off Studio. 

She is exploring – rhythm, voice- and composition as an instructor and a solo artist.

She is a PhD candidate at the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University. She teaches seminar courses & workshops in Greece and abroad, as well as at the Ionian University as a guest lecturer.
